The spice workshop is a collaborative ongoing project with Maya Ronchetti.

In the workshop we explore plant histories and their entanglement with human culture, their traditional and medicinal uses, colonialism and ecology.

We also explore the mindful and sensorially stimulating properties of different plants, spices and foods through using different tools to smell, hear and see them.

The first spice workshop was held at Falmouth uni in 2019 and involved responding to the sensory information through working pieces of clay which we then fired and became part of our degree show.

The second took place at Grays Wharf as part of 'creatures of the dome' in 2020 and folks were encouraged to make marks and leave traces of scents on their own piece of fabric, and to collect and reuse the remains of spices they used in a jar which they could use in cooking, or aromatic therapy.
